Kilometer_42 chronicles the milestones in the life of Kathrine Switzer, the first woman in history to ever run a marathon.
It’s the 1960s, in the most avant-garde country in the world, the United States – many things are changing and important events are catalyzing the public eye. In those same years, quietly, another issue also began to emerge: equal rights for men and women. And precisely on the subject of this, the focus shifts to the life of a girl in search of her identity: from early childhood to puberty, from high school to university; the first experiences, the frantic search for role models to follow, the laborious creation of her own path, the landing on the happy island of passions.
Kathrine Switzer’s participation in the Boston Marathon was not intended to be an act of civil disobedience, but the simple fulfillment of a dream: that of taking part in America’s oldest sporting event.
